Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Empowering you with essential skills
DBT therapy centers on four core skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. This therapeutic approach, offered in both individual and group sessions, aims to reduce self-destructive behaviors and assist those facing challenges with emotion regulation. It's important to note that this is not a process group where you share personal stories; it's an educational group designed to equip you with the skills to enhance your mental health. DBT has shown remarkable effectiveness in working with individuals diagnosed with conditions such as borderline personality disorder, substance use disorders, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

DBT is tailored for adolescents and adults.
Parent Support for Teen Substance Use
Guiding you through the journey
Our parent support group is a lifeline for parents of teenagers grappling with substance use disorders. Facilitated by Jen Jackson, LLMSW, a parent who has faced similar challenges, this group offers education on substances, parenting strategies to navigate your teen's struggles, and tools to support and manage stress during this challenging time. Combining education and compassionate support, this group is designed to empower and enhance the lives of parents and guardians facing the stress of a teenager's substance use.
SMART Recovery
Empowering individuals for lasting change
SMART Recovery is a self-help program providing a safe space for teenagers, young adults, and adults to address and transform behaviors that harm both themselves and others, including smoking, drinking, fighting, and substance use. Rooted in science and backed by over a quarter-century of experience, SMART Recovery equips individuals with practical tools proven to encourage enduring, positive change.
Group Therapy
Strength in shared experience
Group therapy serves as a vital support system for managing mental heath conditions and coping with life's challenges. It encourages socialization, communication, and a profound sense of belonging. Our diverse group of therapy options include didactic or psychoeducational groups, imparting knowledge on topics such as substance abuse issues and coping skills for anxiety. Groups offer a secure and confidential environment to share, receive multiple perspectives, and gain support, encouragement, and constructive feedback.

An initial evaluation session with a therapist prior to attending group is required. For more information or to register for a group session, email info@serenitycounselingmi.com or
